This is a really cute, and simple mindfulness activity for the kids to do in the classroom, or at home, with a partner or someone they know. It is a great way of kids getting to know each other, as well as helping them to understand and be more focus on their own feelings.
The idea of the activity is to cultivate a connection between themselves and their feelings, and to develop that mindful mindset from an early age.
The activity is actually suitable for kids, with guidance, from quite a young age. You can either write the activities down and get them to pick one, or cut out the cards from the sheet and get the kids to pick one, and do it / draw it.
What does the mindfulness activity for kids look like?
This activity is a single sheet of questions, and ideas that kids can think about and respond to:
Some of these activities are to encourage kids to be more confident, some more mindful or kind, and some to think about their feelings, and what activities and ideas affect those feelings.
The activities included are:
- Go and give someone a hug,
- Shout “I am confident”,
- Draw something that makes you happy,
- Sing your favourite song,
- Tell someone you appreciate them,
- Be kind to yourself,
- Say something encouraging to someone,
- Tell someone you love them,
- Make someone laugh,
- Make a new friend.
You might want to spend a little time before doing the activity thinking about some of the things that might create the emotions, or that the kids might want to think about before they do some of these ideas.
For example – questions to think about before the activity might be:
- What kinds of things might make you happy?
- How can we be kind to ourselves?
- What might we do to make someone laugh?
- Who might we love, and finally
- What kinds of things might someone do for us for us to feel we appreciate them, and what they do?
In particular, younger children might need a little guidance around some of these ideas, particularly around understanding what appreciation is, for example.
How to use the mindfulness activity sheet
You can either print out the activity sheet, and tick the ideas off one by one as the children do them, or you can cut out the clouds, turn them face down on the table, and pick them up at random to do them.
Using them as mindfulness activity prompt cards is probably more suitable for older children, but it is, as always, up to you how you use this resource, we are just providing it to you for free!

The book has been written by the authors to help children to build their self confidence and happiness, while also nurturing good mindfulness practises. It is also available for purchase on Amazon too.
