Continuing the winter theme for you, we have a gorgeous set of printable, and free of course, winter spelling cards on the site for you all today. These are all focused on the winter season, and are beautifully presented to help kids with their spelling.
We have created two sets of these winter spelling cards for you. One set has coloured images within it, the other one has line drawings on for the kids to colour in.
How to use these spelling cards
These instructions are included within each of the 21-page packs, but to help you out, here they are again:
- Fold the each sheet into half, following the line so the spelling guide will be at the back of the photo to be spelled,
- Stick the halves together with glue or double sided tape,
- Show the image to whomever is going to be tested, and
- Make a game of it as well!
For the colouring in ones, you can print as many as you want, and they colour in the ones they get right, or just they colour them in before you start. You can decide how you play it. Why not make up your own ideas as well?
What items are included within the winter themed cards?
There are 15 different items to be spelled by whomever is working with you on this. You also have three cards that are blank for you to add your own.
If you laminate the blank cards and use a white board pen for the words and drawings, you can use the blank ones again, and again!
- Boots,
- Coat,
- Skates,
- Mittens,
- Snowman,
- Sled,
- Igloo, and
- Hat.
- Penguin,
- Scarf,
- Socks,
- Gloves,
- Snowball,
- Hot chocolate, and
- Ski-ing.
Loads of great winter words to practise with your kids, or your classroom.
What do the spelling cards look like?
We know you like to see what you are getting, so here are some examples of the downloads for you to take a look at:
Two sets of boots for the kids to spell out, and one set to colour in – they can even decorate them if they want to do so, don’t you think?
We weren’t able to get the same images for the colouring pictures, but this does, of course, mean that you have two sets of cards to work with; which we don’t think is a bad thing. In fact, it could be a lot of fun, and help with practising the spelling as there are double to goes for the kids to get used to the words of course.
To get these, just click on the button for the respective spelling cards below, and you will be able to download the PDFs.
We really hope that you like these two resources, do feel free to check out some of the other literacy resources, and winter activity ideas that we have on the site.
