We are spreading more Kindness with the resources that we have for you on KiddyCharts today. We are sharing our random acts of kindness kit. This is a simple set of ideas for you and your children to spread a little kindness wherever you go. Don’t forget to check out the other kindness resources we have on the site for World Kindness Day and beyond.
Before we share our resources with you, it is worth taking a moment to think about why kindness ideas and activities are a great way for children to develop some amazing characteristics…
Why encourage kindness in our kids?
Engaging in random acts of kindness has several benefits for children, and even adults too:
1. Boosts happiness and wellbeing
According to Christine Carter, practicing kindness can increase happiness in children. When children perform kind actions, their bodies release oxytocin, often referred to as the “love hormone,” which contributes to increased levels of happiness and reduced levels of stress (Source: Connections Academy).
2. Improves social skills and relationships
Kindness helps children develop empathy and compassion, critical components of healthy social interactions. It also fosters positive relationships with peers. If you are looking for activities around empathy specifically, why not check out our empathy activities as well?
3. Enhances self-esteem
Performing random acts of kindness can boost children’s self-esteem and sense of self-worth. It helps them realise that they can make a positive impact on the world around them.
4. Promotes positive behaviour
Teaching children to be kind can lead to more positive behaviours. The good deeds they perform can influence others to act kindly as well, contributing to a more positive community. Kindness can have a ripple effect.
5. Resiliency against stress and trauma
Practicing kindness and creating strong bonds early is a resiliency factor, which helps to counteract trauma and toxic stress.
Encouraging children to practice random acts of kindness not only benefits them individually but also contributes to a more compassionate and empathetic society.

Our kindness cards
A key activity in our random acts of kindness kit is the ‘Kindness Cards.’ These are cards that your child can hand out to people when they perform an act of kindness.
This activity not only promotes kindness but also allows children to see the immediate positive impact of their actions on others.
Each of the cards has the same text on them: “Enjoy this random act of kindness. Be the reason someone smiles today. Pay it forward.”
Every card encourages the receiver to pass the act of kindness on to someone else as well.
The Random Acts of Kindness Challenge
This kindness challenge includes a list of 20 ideas for random acts of kindness that your child can perform. The ideas are simple yet impactful, such as donating books to a local library or paying for someone’s coffee at a cafe.
These activities encourage children to think about others and understand how their actions can make a difference. Plus, it adds an element of fun as kids try to complete as many challenges as possible!
Print your challenge sheet out, and tick them off as you go along. And if you want more ideas, check out our random acts of kindness diary too!
Random acts of kindness idea cards
This kit also contains eight idea cards, each featuring a different act of kindness that children (and adults) can carry out.
These could include helping a colleague with work, donating unused items, or leaving a note inside a library book.
The idea cards serve as a constant reminder for children to be kind and offer new and exciting ways for them to spread kindness.
We have also included a set of blank cards for you to write your own thoughts. Check out our 100 ideas for kindness acts to give you more inspiration!
Kindness Tracker
Finally, the kindness tracker is a fun and visual way for children to keep track of their acts of kindness. Each time they perform a kind act, they get to colour in a heart on the tracker. This provides a sense of accomplishment and serves as a visual representation of all the kindness they’ve spread.
We have given you two of these sheets within the pack, but you can, of course, print out as many as you and the kids need.
You decide what colour you use for them – we are a fan of red, but it is entirely up to you of course!
To download these, just click on the button, or the image below and the PDF is yours.
In conclusion, this random acts of kindness kit is a fantastic tool to help children understand the importance and impact of being kind. It offers fun, engaging, and meaningful activities that will inspire children to spread kindness wherever they go. Remember, every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a big difference!
