The Forestry Commission has teamed up with Visit England, and partners Go-Ape; Forest Holidays and Camping in the Forest to promote family summer holidays in and around England’s woodland.
With a wealth of wildlife and stunning scenery to see, there’s something for the whole family in the forest.
Cycle tracks and trails cover a whole range of fitness and ability levels and many locations off bike hire on site. If you’d prefer to explore on horseback, head to Delamere; Sherwood Pines or the New Forest. Or if water is your thing, check out Kielder Forest and Water Park, where sailing, canoeing and water skiing is on offer.
Those who like to monkey around, can check out one of the Go-Ape attractions with zip-wires and canopy crossings, it’s a whole new way to explore the trees. Some locations offer junior versions and segway experiences too.
There’s so much to see and do, why not make a break of it and camp or stay in one of the lodges? Camping in the Forest offers a cost effective way for the family to enjoy a holiday in the countryside, and Forest Holidays offer all the comforts of home in the heart of the woods.
The Guardian newspaper are currently promoting this campaign, so look out for the supplement in this Saturday’s paper. There’s also a great interactive micro-site where you can plan your summer activities and enter to win your own forest holiday.
