It’s exciting times here at KiddyCharts.
Introducing Tuesday Tips in Parenting
We are very pleased to announce that we have a new guest blogger coming on board to help us out on Tuesdays. The lovely Beckie Whitehouse, a parenting coach who owns Be Confident Coaching. She describes herself as an:
Imperfect Mum of 3 dedicated to helping other Mums in this often tough, exhausting but rewarding job we do. Building confidence both in your parenting and in yourself because you are so much more than ‘just a mum’
She will be writing for us regularly on Tuesdays to help us all with those Parenting challenges.
So if you have anything you would like her to tackle on the KiddyCharts blog covering any sort of parenting advice, then do leave a comment and we will hopefully get around to helping in the future.
Just so you know just a little bit more about her, she has written a little description of one of her days last week with her children. Enjoy.
Finally, it has stopped raining (by Beckie Whitehouse)
It seems that ever since the words “hosepipe ban” were uttered the weather has turned decidedly wetter.
I know it didn’t rain all day yesterday as I got the washing outside and it was half dry when it did start to rain…
But today it is pouring.
Life seems much easier when its dry. But not too hot, as then I need to locate 3 sunhats, extra water bottles, discuss whether jumpers or cardigans are needed and slather sun cream on to protesting children.
Its orchestra today – so it’s an earlier start than usual. Fortunately my 8 year old has not unpacked her clarinet since her last lesson.
It is a hot lunch day, which is just as well as making lunches before the 8.15 start might just push me over the edge today.
The dog needs walking.
So 8.15 all kitted out in waterproofs with umbrellas, clarinet and the dog we attempt to leave.
“Have you got your homework book”
Nope.
There is a brief pause while that is found. For once my ten year old has excelled himself as he has packed the said book in his rucksack and hung it on his peg by the door. Proving that sometimes the message is heard, understood and acted on so I must not give up hope we can communicate effectively!
There are some good points to this incessant rain:
- I won’t have to water the garden
- We need it
- And no one argues over who will hold the dogs lead
The not so good points are that it’s too wet to cycle – but…
“Mum you promised”
Actually I didn’t, I said I thought we might be able to cycle today. I don’t promise unless its a dead cert!
No outside play and lunchtime tennis will be cancelled.
With the car being at the garage for a service, my active 4 year old will be confined to the house all morning.
It’s still raining (but not so hard) when we take the littlest to preschool. We compromised on using a scooter rather than his bike to save upsetting his brother and sister and igniting a round of “its not fair”.
But now I am home, having taken the dog around the block in the rain – again.
The rain has finally stopped and I can hear a blackbird singing.
I just hope it stays dry for the rest of the afternoon they can get at least one play outside, and let off some steam and pent up energy. We can then enjoy the walk home, and catch up on the day’s events of school.
