Parenting tales from the sofa – dealing with childhood nightmares

childhood nightmares

In this week’s parenting tales from the sofa, I chat to Beckie Whitehouse of BeConfident.org about how to deal with childhood nightmares.  Childhood nightmares can be a common occurence and how we deal with them can either allay or heighten their fears.

Both my own children have experienced fears at bedtime including their worries about the house being burgled or ghosts haunting the house.  This needed to be tackled both sensitively and with care and, thankfully, we came out the other side ;-)

This hangout offers some tips and advice on how to help your children should it ever be needed.

Topics covered include:

  • Top 3 tips on how to manage kids fears when going to bed
  • Waking up in the middle of the night
  • The stories to read (or not) before bedtime

Other hangouts you may find helpful when it comes to bedtime:

Has your child ever suffered from childhood nightmares?  How did you cope in the middle of the night?  Do you have any other tips to share?
