Whoever said that maths had to be boring was oh so wrong! We have created some very fun and colourful unicorn themed maths worksheets for your kids to help make their learning journeys that much more colourful and that much more fun. Today we bring you four worksheets so your kids can practice their addition and subtraction with and without regrouping.
Let’s take a look at the printables.
Unicorn themed maths worksheets
Sure, the worksheets are super cute, but their purpose extends further than just that. In maths, regrouping can be defined as the process of making groups of tens when carrying out operations like addition and subtraction with two-digit numbers or larger. To regroup means to rearrange groups in place value to carry out an operation.
This is what we want to have kids practice with our unicorn themed maths worksheets. Let’s have a look at each worksheet and what type of maths practice they encourage.
Addition without regrouping
The first of our four worksheets is all about addition without regrouping.
To add without regrouping:
- Place the addends one on top of the other so that the place values fall in the same columns.
- Add each column together separately, starting with the 1’s place.
- The sums go below each column, underneath the line.
Addition with regrouping
Addition with regrouping is what this next sheet brings.
So, what is addition with regrouping. To add with regrouping, if we get a two digit number while adding the first column together, we add that number to the 10’s place column.
Subtraction without regrouping
Regrouping in subtraction is a process of exchanging one tens into ten ones. This worksheet brings your kids even more maths problems to solve and practice their subtraction without regrouping.
Subtraction with regrouping
Regrouping in subtraction is a process of exchanging one tens into ten ones. We use regrouping in subtraction when the minuend is smaller than the subtrahend.
Subtraction with regrouping is used in many ways in our day to day lives. You can use subtraction with regrouping to:
- measure distance,
- deal with money,
- measure time.
Each sheet has 20 addition problems for your kids to practice. Do print out the entire set and give your kids that helping hand.
