My Time Capsule

Kids seem to always want to look back on things, don’t they? They like to see what they made when they were younger, and like to hear stories about what they did when they were “little” despite them still being little. What a better way to let them keep track of the important moments in their lives than with a time capsule. We have a lovely printable sheet for you to encourage your kids to be their own historians and keep track of the events in their lives that they can fondly look back on.

There are various ways that you can use our time capsule printable. This resource is great for parents as well as teachers and homeschooling parents. You can use this at different times of year and in different intervals to keep track of your kids lives.

Let’s take a quick look at the printable so you can see what you will be getting.

My time capsule

The cover page of your time capsule is simple, colourful, and cute. It has space for your kids to track the year, their age, and even write a little snippet sharing what is on their mind on the day. Which is lovely so that they can try and invoke that feeling again when they open their time capsule. Or at least see how they felt then.

The second page has space for the kids to write a little bit about their family. As family members enter the family it will be interesting to see what life was like with only 1 sibling for example, or no siblings at all! There is also space for a record of what was in the news on the day and for them to write down a bit about the best day ever thus far.

The latter is a great way for them to see how their life experiences have changed and for them to see just how they went from considering something a favourite activity to whatever their new favourites are.

Speaking of favourites, the favourites sheet has space for your kids to keep track of their favourite;

• Food,
• Movie,
• Colour,
• Book,
• Game,
• Hobby,
• Show, and,
• Song

These are sure to change from one month to the next so it’s lovely to see how drastically they can change over a longer period of time.

The last sheet is the “in 10 years sheet”. This sheet allows kids to have a projection and make a note of where they see themselves in 10 years. Even if your kids make a time capsule every 6 months, what they will want in 10 years’ time will surely change, or it may not, which makes it even more interesting to see.

So, there you have it! We hope that this lovely activity gives you a way to keep the kids engaged and also gives them a little bit of mindfulness by making them more in tune with what they are going through.
