Chocolate Pie: Easy recipe for Oreo mad families

We have the ULTIMATE treat for your chocolate lovers out there today; Chocolate Pie. Yes. This IS a thing. And yes, this IS how you make it in only 10 easy steps. If we can do it, you can do it too.

Just LOOK at it. If you can’t resist the chocolate pie. Don’t.

The best thing about it is that this is actually a pretty simple recipe too, so it is one you can do with the family, and works for a weekend, and perhaps even an adventurous weekday meal.

Ingredients

For the filing

  • 3tbps cornflour,
  • 2tbsp cocoa powder,
  • 100g sugar,
  • 6 egg yolks,
  • 100s sugar,
  • 225g dark chocolate, chopped roughly,
  • 30g butter, cubed,
  • 1tsp vanilla, and
  • 725ml whole milk.

For the base:

  • 65ml melted butter,
  • 275g crushed oreos, and
  • Pinch of salt.

For the topping:

  • 250ml whipped cream,
  • 15g icing sugar, and
  • 1tsp vanilla.

Method

  1. Add together the oreos, butter and salt and put them into a 22cm pie case
  2. Bake at 180C for about 12 minutes and then leave to cool
  3. For the filing, whisk together the cornflour, eggs, sugar, and all the other ingredients as listed above,
  4. Bring the milk to the boil on the hob,
  5. Remove the milk from the heat, and then pour into the egg mixture and whisk together well
  6. Use a sieve and pass the mixture through this and then add it back into the pan
  7. Add the chocolate and cook using a low heat for 8-9 minutes
  8. Remove from the hear, and then add to the biscuit base made earlier
  9. Pop in the fridge and chill overnight
  10. Top with the whipped cream and you are done!
