My uncle always talked about these the moments we store up and remember, the laying down of those all important family memories that will stay with us as we grow old, and our children grow up.
Perhaps its the funny things our children said or did. For example, we still call cucumber – coolumbers in this house!
Or perhaps its the amzing days we have had watching our children growing up, performing, or just having a ball.
We had an afternoon where I certainly stored up some of those wonderful family memories last weekend. It was the school fete and for the one and only time all three children were in the gym display….together.
They were all dressed as African animals – the sorting of costumes is another story – and all had their turn with their groups.
It was a long day and we did suffer with tired, grumpy children at the end of it but the thing we will remember is them all together for the show.
These are the things that will light up our eyes when we are older and the stories we might one day tell our grandchildren.
Nothing can compare to looking back as we get older to the moments of magic that our children have given us through the years…when we are old, and there is less life in our limbs. Here is to hoping that the twinkles in our eyes remain thanks to the wonderful memories, like I had this weekend, that our children bring us.

“We do not remember days, we remember moments.”
And those family memories and moments will sustain us long into our greying years….

Family moments are important. I agree.
