How to make an origami heart

We have a lovely craft activity for either you or the kids today: How to make your very own origami heart. You can create an origami heart note with these, or just use them as decorations. Whatever you want. You can do with this cute little papercraft heart.

As always with our craft ideas, we are going to tell you what you need, and frankly, if you do’t have most of this lying about the house, you cannot really be a crafter!

Materials:

  1. Origami Craft Papers,
  2. Glue,
  3. Scissors.(optional), and
  4. Ruler.

That is IT. Once you have assembled these, then you just need to follow these simple instructions to make these cute little origami hearts.

Instructions for your origami heart:

Step 1:

Select a square piece of paper.

Step 2:

Flip it over.

Step 3:

Fold the paper diagonally in half.

Step 4:

Open the fold.

Step 5:

Fold it again diagonally in half from the bottom part.

Step 6:

Open the fold. This will create an “X” shapes crease on the paper.

Step 7:

Take the top point of the paper and bring it down to the center point.

Step 8:

Take the bottom point and bring it upwards to the end of the top fold.

Step 9:

Take the left part of the origami piece and bring it upwards along the vertical center line. Fold it there.

Step 10:

Take the right part and bring it upwards along the center line.

Step 11:

Flip it over to the other side.

Step 12:

Fold the two top points of the hearts slightly to add some details.

Step 13:

Fold the points from the two sides to finish your origami heart.

And that’s it – your fantastic origami heart is complete and ready – why not make a few and give them to someone special? Or you could add a few words to them to turn them into origami heart notes; perfect for those you love to tell them how you are feeling about them. Or even how much they mean to you.

We hope that you agree these are gorgeous and perfect for Valentine’s Day and beyond. It doesn’t have to be February the 14th for you to show you care about someone, so ue these origami hearts wherever you want to spread a little joy and love to those your feel need or deserve it.
