We are starting a new series on the site. We all know how much you love a good printable; so we thought we would make a few alternative charts that would raise a smile now. Enter Real KiddyCharts, to go alongside our free charts.
Kids eat EVERYTHING, but what you actually want them to; this seems to be no more true that in the toddler years. Green vegetables are the spawn of the devil, and sand from the beach is just beige coloured ice-cream.
If it isn’t supposed to be near your child’s mouth, then there is a pretty good chance it’ll end up in it.
Sand, anything from their nose, stuff another kid has had hold of whose got a cold, medicines (if you don’t keep an eye on them which clearly we all should), dog food; you name it, they want it.
They DON’T want the good stuff; the vegetables, the fruit, and healthy options. Getting the kids to want these requires guile and cunning akin to that of a fox. Chopping your food so, so small that you wouldn’t be able to spot it, or perhaps making courgette muffins – trying to kid them that they are eating cake, and there isn’t a vegetable in sight.
Do you know what I mean?
Clearly, I haven’t tested this chart scientifically beyond the exposure I have had to a fair few toddlers in my life, and the evidence I have seen when visiting friends houses. Toddlers prefer sand to vegetables is not a well know fact, and it doesn’t mean we should start feeding them sand alongside their potatoes, and peas.
It’s just a real KiddyChart, that’s all. From real parenting life. Not to be ignored, but to be bourne with good grace, just like the rest of the blooming annoying stuff we have to put up with as parents.
We’ll have another one of these for you soon. We hope you can relate to them all. If you get it, share with a friend and make them a little happier, and a little less bothered as they’ll know that they aren’t the only one struggling with sand/mud/dog food and their toddler ;-)
Even better, why not pin it as well?
Thanks to the fab Mom Comic for helping me with this. Real KiddyCharts are copyrighted owned by this site, and credit us when sharing.
Why don’t you share in the comments some of the things you’d like us to make another Real KiddyChart about?
