We have a fabulous little game for you on the site today; based on countries of the world and a grand little book from Lonely Planet Kids – it’s a countries of the world printable board game.
It is a simple idea, and the aim is to teach kids some understanding of:
- Where some of the countries of the world are,
- Where key cities that are within those countries sit, and finally about
- Flags for some of the countries of the world too.
The book we have based this countries of the world printable board game on is the This is My World book from Lonely Planet Kids, and it is a geographical matching game.
Countries of the World matching game table
As you can see from the above, we have provided you and your children with a table that includes an example of how to play the game.
Your kids need to find the:
- Name of the child,
- Picture of the child,
- Country they are from,
- City where the child lives, and finally
- Flag for that country.
These then need to be sorted and put into the right places on the game board above.
We have, of course, provided all the options for you in another printable sheet.
These token can be cut out and then placed within the table in the correct positions as per the example provided for you and the kids.
What could be simpler?
We have even given you details of where in the world the countries are located; just for a little bit more educational play value.
This is my World
You can either grab a copy of the This is my World book to help you out, or perhaps a Globe or World Atlas?
Do check out our This is My World Book Review if you need more information on this book.
In summary, it is a beautifully presented book that goes around the world, and it’s continents exploring what life if like in different parts of the world through the eyes of 84 different children. The kids are aged between 6 and 12, and it is aimed at a similar age group.
