Family road trip planner on our free premium site

Who likes the idea of a family road trip, but isn’t really sure where they should be starting both in terms of organising it, and then getting in the car, and driving? Wherever you are, getting sorted for any holiday if you have kids can be a bit of an organisational headache. BUT, don’t worry, as always, WE have you covered with this family road trip planner that takes the headache out of holidays in the car with the kids. This is only available to our premium site members – but that’s free to join, so why wouldn’t you?

The beauty of this family road trip planner is that it has information for both before, during and after the trip, all in one place. There are a total of 6 pages within the planner, so not too big, but enough to keep a lovely keepsake of the trip, as well as making sure that everything runs smoothly while you are away. It will also help you to plan future trips too because it has an expenses section, helping you to work out how much these trips cost so it is easier to budget for them in the future.

Family road trip planner: What’s inside?

There are a number of different sections within the planner including:

  • Itinerary,
  • Accommodation details,
  • Pit stops; to make sure you are safe and re-fuelled along the way,
  • Must sees,
  • Checklist for packing,
  • Expenses, and
  • A journal so you have a lovely record of what you did on that trip.

Road trip essentials: Itinerary, accommodation and pit stops

This is an essential planning sheet before you get in the car and go – what are the basics of the trip; where you intent on going – your main stops, plus the accommodation that you have booked (or are going to try), alongside the places to re-fuel, pop to the toilet, and get those all important road trip snacks.

Must sees on your road trip

This sheet can be used multiple times on the road trip – or perhaps as a master document for the whole trip, depending on how you would like to manage it. In addition, you might like to have a sheet for all of the main places that you have decided to visit on the holiday. Take each location you are visiting, and plan what you need to see, and then once you have been there, you can fill out the memories – this is the perfect size for attaching photographs of course!

Packing checklist

There are always going to be the basics that you need on any family road trip:

  • Identification,
  • Toiletries
  • Food, and
  • Clothes.

We’ve got a checklist for you for them all! However, there are also other items you will need that are personal to you, so we have space for that too. Don’t forget to pack your swimming costume, walking boots, or sleeping bags depending on how you are going to spend your holiday 😂 .

Expenses

This is a vital part of the planner, and helps you to work out how to budget for future trips. Take note of all the expenses both before, during and after the road trip, so you know exactly how much you spent with the family. It’ll help you to work out how much you need to allocate to any future trips. If you categorise each expense, it’ll be easier to see what you were spending on too, e.g. food, fuel, accommodation, etc.

Journal

Our last page is a wonderful addition to add to the must see page for capturing those memories of the trip with the family for ever. You can print it out multiple times, having one for each day, or just have a brief summary for either the main stops along the trip, or the whole holiday. Entirely up to you, depending on how much you can be bothered to write about it all!

That gives you everything you need to know whether you want to download the printable – so here it is.
