To celebrate the release of the Moomins on the Riviera on DvD (Sept 28th 2015), we have some gorgeous Moomin activity sheets to give to you all today. If anyone else remembers the Moomins from their childhood, they will be delighted to hear that they are still going strong now, and delighting children now, just as much as they did then.
Tove Jansson, the original comic strip creator for the Moomins was Finnish, and I was enchanted by them when I was a kiddy, and it gives me a lot of pleasure to think that my kids will be able to enjoy them as much as I did.
The Moomins on the Riviera is a tale about the Moomins leaving their beloved Moominland and taking Snorkmaiden and Little My with them to sail to The Riviera. There are many adventures on the way with Moominpappa getting a taste of the “Hoy-Paloy” with his new name of “De-Moomin, and Moominmamma becoming increasingly frustrated with her family and sitting out their insanity on their boat! Even Moomin struggles a little, as Snorkmaiden is wooed by a playboy, and he gets acquainted with the green-eyed monster.
The story is all about the pleasures of being in your own home, and the joy of family; so what better way to celebrate the release than with a few activities that you can do with the kids? We have a selection of three printables for you:
- Free Moomin mask, which you can use to become one of the Moomins yourself!
- Moomin fingerpuppets, so you can recreate the story of the French Riviera all on your own, and
- Moomin maze and colouring sheet as well, so you can really meet all the characters from the Moomins properly.
